Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
