The former president's Granddaughter Gets Expert Advice from Golf Legend Woods Before LPGA Debut
The rising star maintains substantial online audience
Kai Trump will have numerous high-profile backers when she makes her first LPGA appearance later this week.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be related to a former US president, received a special exemption to play at the Annika tournament in Florida.
The former president, an avid golfer, operates numerous courses worldwide and often plays against his granddaughter.
"He's fairly competent. I shouldn't elaborate but we play competitive games," she revealed.
Kai explained that Trump, unable to come, told her: "Just stay calm."
"He practically suggested to go out there and enjoy myself," she added.
"From my perspective, he's simply a normal grandpa. He can't make it this weekend. He's focused on presidential duties, making him somewhat preoccupied."
Being non-professional, the golfer has played in a mere three competitions this year and has position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association listings.
Yet she can get advice from 15-time major champion, romantically involved with Vanessa.
"He represents the greatest golfer globally," the young golfer said.
"Furthermore, he's a more impressive individual. He suggested me to go out there, enjoy myself, following whatever happens."
Kai will face multiple the biggest names in the sport at this tournament, including world number two Nelly Korda, British Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Tournament organizers mentioned that involving Kai exposes golf to different demographics, especially reaching youth audiences.
The social media influencer has a massive following and recently launched an exclusive apparel and wellness company.
She begins at 17:30 GMT.
